The Louisiana Master Naturalists of Greater New Orleans
are a community of citizens who engage with the natural environment through education & stewardship.
During the Covid-19 pandemic we are hosting a series of online seminars. The schedule and videos of prior seminars are on the Seminars page.
Rendezvous is the annual gathering of Naturalists from the seven Louisiana chapters. In previous times, Rendezvous occurred over a long weekend and included great speakers, hikes, and camaraderie. This year's event was virtual. View the Zoom video of the wrap up of the event. Visit the state Louisiana Master Naturalists website for more information. View the winners of the photo contest.
Become a Certified Master Naturalist
The LMN Certification Program is offered each Fall and Spring. This certification connects you with a diverse knowledge base in Louisiana natural history by offering academic lectures and in-the-field workshops taught by experts in the disciplines of ecology, biology, geomorphology, and resource management. The Master Naturalist Program enables participants to learn about the nature of Louisiana's varied physiographic regions, its flora and fauna, and connections between our valued environment, culture, and economy. Accepting applications for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022
Enrollment is limited and classes fill up quickly. We understand it is hard to plan so far in advance, but get your name on the list before all of the slots are gone. We will work with you to move you to a later session if you find you are unable to attend the session you originally selected.
All workshops are field-based lectures held outdoors and we encourage participants to wear masks when interacting with classmates. We are working to make this experience enjoyable and educational while maintaining social distancing guidelines through use of audio equipment and recorded online lectures.
